The Pathways Read

Before you sign Pathways, know your number.

Plenty of advisors read the agreement, run the numbers and sign. A confidential 30-minute call with one of our partners gives you your own number before you do.

What you send

Round numbers

Years at UBS, your trailing-12, the Pathways amount if you have seen it. No documents.

What it takes

30 minutes

One call with a partner, at a time you pick.

What you get

Your number

What signing trades on your book, and what the practice is worth today.

What it costs

Nothing

No fee, no retainer, no obligation to do anything after.

What the signature trades

An advisor who has not signed Pathways can leave without repaying any succession money. As reported, Pathways advances part of the ALFA succession payout now in exchange for a commitment to eventually retire at UBS, and the money is repaid if you leave. For many advisors that is a good trade, and it is worth knowing exactly what it costs on your own book before you sign.

The terms as reported, and what changed for 2027, are in UBS Pathways and the 2027 comp plan.

What we ask for

  • Your years at UBS
  • Your trailing-12 production, in round numbers
  • The Pathways amount you were shown, if you have one
  • The repayment terms, if you have seen them

What we never ask for

  • The Pathways agreement or any document
  • Client names, account detail or statements
  • Anything that belongs to UBS
  • A commitment of any kind

Before you send anything

Use a personal email and a personal phone, never a UBS address or line. Nobody at UBS hears from us because you asked, and what you share stays inside Winthrop & Co.

A read is a market opinion, not legal advice. Review the agreement with your own counsel before you sign.

Request a Pathways read

Round numbers are fine on every line, and the optional ones can stay blank. A partner will reach out on the personal email or phone you give us to set a time.

Rather talk first? Call (781) 205-0510, or read what happens on a first call.

Your practice, in round numbers

Confidential by default. We never share your information, and nothing here is legal advice.

Common questions

Does a Pathways read cost anything?

No. There is no fee and no retainer, and asking for one commits you to nothing.

Will UBS know I asked?

No. Nobody at UBS hears from us because you asked. We use only the personal email and phone you give us, and what you share stays inside Winthrop & Co.

I plan to retire at UBS anyway. Is this for me?

Possibly not, and that is a good answer. For an advisor who already intends to retire at UBS, Pathways can deliver the same succession money earlier. A read is most useful when the decision is still open, or when you want the repayment terms in plain numbers before you sign.

Do I need to send you the Pathways agreement?

No, and we would rather you did not. The agreement belongs to UBS. Round numbers and your own description of the terms are enough.

What will you tell me?

What signing trades on your book, how the repayment works if your plans change, and what the practice is worth on the open market today. It is a conversation, and anything in writing comes only if you ask for it. A read is a market opinion, not legal advice, so review the agreement with your own counsel.
